Ragnar nodded. "Good to know. No man should stand by when his lands are taken from him. "i hope you were at least able to keep your family safe?"

"Safe enough in Braavos." Franklin shrugs. "They will know when we come back."

"Of course. But you seem to be doing well here, nonetheless. Especially for a man forced into exile. I congratulate you." He saluted with his cup.

"Well enough," he said. "But there is much to be done."

"Isn't there always?" Ragnar countered. "Life is bloodshed, whether protecting your home from enemies or taking what you desire from those weaker than yourself. It's so on the Iron islands, at any rate. But I know that not every man would do well in a place like this, as you have done."

"They don't take those who can't make it," he said easily. "Anyone here is a dangerous warrior or has some other talent worth keeping."

Ragnar sees men and women and everyone, but rank is hard to judge save for those already introduced. Cedric drains his ale. "My father fought with his elder brother and fled east when I was four," he said. "And formed the Grinning Men. We came to Sothoryos on a contract about size years ago. It didn't end well," he said. "And we took this island over about eight months ago." "Ah, so you were here since the beginning." Killion replied, wondering what a childhood raised around sellswords would be like. Probably not much different from a life raised around reavers. "Not an adventure worth the coin then?"

"The cost has been dear, for us and the world at large," Cedric said. "Whether it was all worth it remains undetermined. Even the darkest day can bring hope."

"They don't take those who can't make it," he said easily. "Anyone here is a dangerous warrior or has some other talent worth keeping." "That's a good policy. Your queen seems to be a woman of good sense. Does she have a consort?"

"Not yet," Frederick says. "She awaits a worthy one. None have passed her test."

"What test is that?" Ragnar asked, curious. "I have heard of such customs but I always believed such tests belonged in children's tales."

"Queens can make their own rules," he said simply. "And she has seen a suitor in a vision, she says." He shrugs. "I'm in no position to question her talents, now should anyone who hasn't tried surviving the jungles. It takes a special kind of person."

"Without dark days, my people would have no hope." he replied. After all, they thrived in the chaos. "You are an idealistic lot, for sellswords."

"Aye, it's the way with ships too. But I think we can learn much from the customs of other peoples. Visions, now that is interesting. I've heard tales of greenseers in the North, while followers of the fire god claim it's possible to have visions in the flames, but visions are not commonly experienced by my own people. The Drowned God works in mysterious ways." He grinned. "Perhaps your queen is touched by whichever god she worships."

Cedric shrugs. "Sellswords no more," he said. "We aren't fighting for gold, now. The chaos is giving us opportunity, and we shall seize it." The general looks around. "Revenge is a powerful motivator."
Sunglass nodded. "It is entirely likely something of the sort happened. Whatever it is, she is seldom in error." He finishes his ale as Eliza rises.
