Arianna raises her glass to her new husband. "Prince Lucian," she said, "this is rather the most fun I've had in a long while."

"Good..good..but I think we're missing something..." He looked around, he shrugged with a sigh. "Perhaps some entertainment?" He looked at his steward and snapped his fingers.
The guards in the hall cleared out a space and a man and woman in flowing brightly coloured clothing faced each other. Each held a quarter staff and when they stommped their staffs on the floor the musicians began playing some music to which the two 'fighters' began dueling though it was more of a dance with fighting flourishes.
While people watched he spoke to Arianna, "Have you met any interesting people?"

She watches the fight. "Your admiral seems an interesting woman, and that new husband of hers. Worthy supporters, I think." She is amused at the scene. "The choreography is impressive, my prince."

"Yes, she can be a handful," Lucian agreed with a frown.
"It is" Lucian said tiredly. "I'm going for a walk for some air."

Arianna follows. "Are you all right, my prince? Is it time to get to the rest of the ceremony?" She smiles and squeezes his hand.

"I'm fine," he said distractedly and gave her a small smile under the dim light.
"Do you want to go now?"

She nods and lets him lead her off.

Lucian abandons the party in favour of going to another party in their new room with a view of the city. He had workers round the clock getting the room ready for them over the last few days.
"This is our room. You of course have spent time in the Summer home away from here already."

"It is lovely," she said. "I'm sure we'll make many...pleasant memories here," she finishes with a grin. "Does Lys have hereditary rulers?"

"Yes, a son or daughter born to a man and woman inherits their wealth an titles. There was a time when there was no real ruler of Lys just many magisters and a council, bickering meerchant nobles and the like. But my father was wise, rich, and strong enough to unite everyone for a common cause under his banner so to speak. There was a time when our ancestors fought one another."

"Then we shall be even stronger," she declared, toying with his clothes now that they were in private, "so no one will ever think to rise against our son."

"You think it will be a son?" Lucian asked, the gender of his child not much significance in his mind. Women were brutal in their own way.

"Or twins," she said. "But I will have a boy and then all girls, I warn you. Like my mother and grandmother."

"Very prophetic," Lucian replied with some humour. He put his hands on her shoulders reassuringly which moved down to remove her dress so they could get down to busin-ass.
