"Was out for a leisurely stroll, found some orphans and I think a wife along the way." The Crowl states with a laugh, "I would take it as a kindness if you'd let us pass."

"Five thousand at a time. One week apart," he said. "Can''t risk this...rabble disintegrating. Nor will I allow an army strong enough to crush the Night's Watch through at once."

"If that is how it must be then that is how we will do. We will set up camp outside Queenscrown until we are all past, and I will try to keep them from wandering off." Crowl states, "Is there any problem with that?"

"Set up farther south, beyond the Gift," he said. "Then you're Kalvin Stark's fucking problem."

"Long lake then." Crowl states, "Me or one of my Stoneborn will come and escort them through and lead them to the camp, and hopefully keep them from causing too much grief."

The Crowl laughs heartily, "The sooner they get into the south the better we'll all be up here."

"I guess so," Frederic said. "The gates will open day after tomorrow."

The first week Crowl escorts the Giants and their leader through the Wall. Followed by the Thenns, then Savinia and a portion of her followers, and the week after that Skinless whats his face comes through the wall.

In the first weeks almost two thousand wildlings wander off in the night, pillaging through villages and raising the ire of House Umber. The giants, somewhat surprisingly, prove the least likely to unpredictability, perhaps due to low intelligence, or their reliance on their king to make their decisions for them.

Crowl keeps feeding the men through, but when he is near Long Lake he keeps an eye out for any wildling parties that wandered off to bring them back to the group. He also tells the army that if any free folk wander off to raid the North and return they will be killed and used to feed those who stay in the army.

Free from the restraints of the relative confinement of the wildlands to the north, the threat is of moderate but not compelling power, and of the thirty thousand or so who cross the Wall, by the time the full host assembles at Long Lake six thousand have been killed by angry northmen or each other, or continue their successful raids. Savinia is forced to use her deadliest warriors, a band called the Chosen, to kill promising but independence-leaning young chiefs to keep them in thrall.
Long Lake is...long, about a hundred fifty miles by thirty or so wide, and it is relatively underpopulated. What few settlers live there have long fled the horde's approach. A messenger from Winterfell arrives, for the Lord Crowl.

Crowl is found in a tent towards the center of the encampment. Numerous spikes are placed outside with the heads of prominent wildlings within the encampment that had chosen to ignore his ruling and where since killed.
