"My mother taught me," he said. "She learned it from...demons, I guess. I don't want to think of it. I seldom use it, to be honest." He grinned. "I'm charming enough on my own to not need any love potion."

Robyn scoffed, a very unlady like noise, "That is a matter of opinion."
"So can you see, talk to anyone? Like.. Bryce Dayne, and Sirius Targaryen, Vhagsus Blackfyre? All of our enemies?"

"Vhagus and Bryce would track me," he said. "But I could. Sirius maybe. Distance does make it harder, as does casting on someone I don't know."

"If someone was spying on you, would you know?" She asked, rather interested in knowing how it worked. "Can you protect yourself against it?"

"I can," he said. "But being inactive is the best defense there is." He shrugged. "I'm no true sorcerer, anyway. Not like my...family, growing up."

"So the best defence against being of interest to people who can use magic... is to crawl under a rock?" She asked, "I wish that was an option for most people." She smiled, "What was troubling you before we set off? You seemed... perturbed"

"Nothing," he said. "temporary insanity is all." He rose and stretched. "Politics, mostly. So pesky."

"what politics?" She asked, narrowing her eyes.

"Marriages and the like, nothing of great significance, not anymore," he said. He looked out the window one last time. "I'm rather tired, now. Going to be a long ride down this mountain."

"That it is," Robyn agreed, and stood herself, "I shall see you in the morning then, for the return journey"

Upon waking up, Nick comes to Robyn's room. "Well, sis, where are you planning on going? I hear the army is set up at Antlers, but there's skirmishing going on everywhere now."

Robyn had woken up with a start, dreaming that she worked in some enormous metal building... in a solar full of six other people, all working at metal machines that lit up, that stopped her making decisions like where to go next, and replying to her brother. What a terrible nightmare.
Robyn wiped the sleep from her eyes and yawned, covering her mouth daintily with the back of her hand. "I suppose I should go and see if Kal could do with an extra archer, we can stop, find out what is going on there... What are you planning on doing?"

"I'll follow you that far, at least" he said. "So you can keep me safe."
Nick will also assault the metal building with sword and sorcery. Nothing keeps him from being spoken to.

"Perhaps you should keep me on as hired muscle?" she suggested, flexing her very unimpressive bicep. "Enemies beware"
She got up out of bed, having borrowed night clothes from some lady who had once been in the keep.
"We should probably go as soon as we are able."
