"Then we could miss going east with the armies..." she mused to herself, "Do you think there could be more of those skinchangers who attacked me?" she asked, frowning. "Would they be beyond the wall?"

Nick frowned. "If they are calling my trek north foolish they have no idea what Vhagus is truly capable of," he said. "Not even an inkling. And Lord Stark would say anything to keep you safe, Robyn. He is rather taken with you."

"The only way to keep me safe is to destroy our enemies, he should really know better than to try and wrap me in swaddling, if he is taken with who I am, this is it." She said and raised her arms then seemed to remember she was wearing a pretty dress for once, "Well, not this, but you know, before. I'll still go north with you, Nick. Worst comes to the worst, I'll die, and Lord Kalvin and Lord Arryn and King Aaron will all have to find some other fool to marry, one with a bit more sense. Besides, as I said, I owe you for following my misguided plans."

Nick sits and thinks and thinks and sits before answering. "Lord Oriax can do worse than kill you," he finally said. "Death is just the beginning of his torment, I think." He frowns at her. "Are you in love with any man?"

"I swear you ask me that every time we talk" She muttered, hers brothers fascination with her love life utterly lost on her, "There are men I like a great deal, I do not know if I love any of them, I do not know how you know if you are in love. How did you know?"

Nick shrugged. "I was hoping you could tell me." He leaned back. "I can see things most can't" he said. "To the far north dead men are walking. Among the living."

"Why did you want to know if I was in love?" she asked him, "Dead men? Like at Skyreach?"

Nick frowns. "I am curious. But to the matter of dead men, no, these ones think and act on their own. Like the living, only," he frowns. "I think they seek he flesh of the ones with red blood."

"doesn't everyone.... have red blood?" she asked feeling foolish just saying it.

"That is the scary part," he agrees. "But I have no proof. Dreams are dreams."

"We're going North because you had a dream?" She asked incredulously, raising an eyebrow.

"I am going north for it, yes," he said. "Dreams are important to me."

"Why?" she asked, was he really going to risk his life, and by extension hers, on a dream.

"The Old Gods favor my dreams," he said. "They never lie, even if their images surpass my understanding at times."

"Everyone gets dreams like that, Nick" Robyn said confidently, "either way, we are committed now."
